Celebration

It has been over six months since I have received my last chemotherapy, and that is reason to celebrate! One of the things I have learned about is the importance of celebrating how God is working in our lives. Therefore, as God has been working in my life, I feel the need to celebrate that. My family is planning on having a celebration Sunday (7/30/06) night at 6:00 at Washington Mennonite Church. We will have a thanksgiving service and homemade ice cream. Ultimately, we are going to celebrate and you are invited to come. If you can’t make it, help me give thanks by thanking God for his work in my life.

Additionally, my family just got back from vacation. Our final destination was Maine, but we also stopped to see my Dad’s family who live in Ohio on the way to Maine, and on the way back home. The most fun part of being in Maine for me was catching lobsters from the ocean. I also discovered that eating lobsters is a lot of work, but they do taste great. It was also a lot of fun to spend time with my Grandparents and other relatives who live in Ohio. We don’t get to see them very often, so it is always nice when we can. And it just hit me that in New Hampshire I saw a relative for the first time as one of my cousins had a baby fairly recently.

I also will be going back to the hospital soon for more tests. The seventh of August I will be receiving an MRI and a CT scan. These are the tests to see how the inside of my body is doing. So I would appreciate your prayers as I go through this. God is at work in my life, and I know God will continue to always be with me. I will then also be going back to the hospital the ninth of August for my neurological work. This will help me know what I will need to help me make it through college with a fair amount of help for my new reading disability. Well, I guess it is almost a year now that I haven’t been able to read well, but it still feels new to me.

May Christ be with us all as we walk through life

Update

As I looked at my blog lately, I realized that it has been awhile since I put anything on. I thought it would be good to fill you who are reading this in a little bit on my life. One of the things that I have been doing is speaking.

Today I helped my dad give the sermon and everything went well. We talked about our dealing with losses with the love of God in us and a positive attitude. Everything went well and a number of people said they got a lot from what we talked about. That is what is important.

Additionally, I have just taken some cognitive rehabilitation to help prepare me to go back to college. I have to do a bit of reading in preparation to go back to college. The doctor can then assess my abilities and then make a recommendation to Goshen about what I need to work with my new reading disabilities. I am not too worried about going back to school, but it will be a challenge.

My last blood work was in the low normal range, so that is going well. I still don’t have all of my hair back but that is ok with me. Over all, I am doing really well as I keep busy painting and spending time with my family and friends.
