Employment Update

For the last few weeks, I have been going through nursing assistant orientation at the University of Iowa Hospital. My position will be working within one of the psychiatric units at the Hospital. I still am planning on doing more with social work, but decided this new job would assist me in preparation for future social work positions. My orientation is fulltime, and it is creating me to be busier that I am used to being. It feels like I am back in school as I learn new concepts related to nursing rather than social work. What I am learning though is good information to know. For the most part I will be in charge of taking vitals, patient supervision, engaging in conversation, and assisting the nurses of this unit. While I am currently fulltime for this orientation, I will only have a part time nursing assistant position and will continue to work for Social Services as well.

After what I have been through, a few people continue to ask me how I am feeling. And as for now, I am feeling really well. My next MRI and CT scans will be in the middle of December. Once I begin working in the psychiatric unit, I will be putting in some night time hours. I have never had to word during the night, so if you could remember me in your prayers as I attempt to work at a different hour than I am used to.

with peace,
Nathan
