CT Scans

As I finished painting my room today, I once again realized how much my chemo wipes me out. It was just two weeks ago when I started painting that I had so much more energy, and today putting on the final touches was a challenge. But, the chemotherapy is doing its job. As many of you may be waiting for, I have the results of my latest CT scan from this past Monday. Compared to my last CT scans taken in December, my largest tumor has shrunk from 8.7 x 4.8 cm to 4.4 x 2.8 cm. The other notable tumor has shrunk from 3.0 x 2.7 cm to 1.9 x 1.3 cm. Over all, I still have multiple tumors throughout my chest and abdomen, but they appear to be shrinking. Praise the Lord!

This past Monday, I also found out that I am half way done with my treatment schedule. There are a total of 12 treatment cycles lined out in my protocol, and I just started my seventh cycle. I would invite you to join me in prayer that as I go through this next half of my treatment that every last cancer cell is destroyed as well. I will also be cutting down on one of my chemotherapies because of its side effects. It makes my hands and feet numb and not function right. So, hopefully those side effects will start to go away. But, I would appreciate prayer for this as each person potentially can recover differently from these side effects.

Over all I feel that I am doing fairly well. I pray this continues as I continue down the road to my healing.

May God watch over all of us,
Nathan

Hi Nathan!
I have been anxiously checking this blog each morning to hear the results of your CT scans. We rejoice with you in the shrinking of the tumors.

I didn't see you at the game yesterday but heard you were there. I'm glad you were feeling well enough to go. Hope tonight's game goes just as well.

Know that we're still praying for endurance during this time and a complete recovery!

God bless You!!

Nathan,
Happy St. Patrick's Day. I have been struggling with the news of your cancer since I visited Iowa in late January when my mother-in-law, Salinda Miller, died. This is the first time I visited your blog spot. Your dad wrote the address for me on a paper at a potluck. I have read all the entries and I am having a hard time as I last remember you as the very healthy and energetic young man down the street from my house playing on your bike. Wow! You were mischievious then.
I am thinking of you then and now and appreciating your courage and thinking how frightening this must be. I am glad your tumors are shrinking!
Reading your entries puts things in perspective for me. I am off in the wilds of Alaska working in a school. Our children here have many problems that are overwhelming but so very different from your struggle. I am usually praying for them but am adding you to my thoughts and prayers. Since I am so far from you...so many time zones away...I will be covering you while others sleep.
Be well, Nathan.

Nathan,
We are so glad to hear that the tumors are shrinking. That truely is an answer to prayer. We will pray that the side effects from the chemo will go away. Our brother-in-law Fred Litwiller also had side effects to his chemo and had to start on different medications which he tolerated much better.

Hope I can get out in the near future to see the painting that you have done. It will probably be the last of April or the first of May before I can come out. Carl and I keep you constantly in our prayers. Love Aunt Elaine and Uncle Carl.

Nathan,

I heard about your cancer through the GC Bulletin and have been keeping you in my prayers ever since. I am glad your test results show a decrease in the tumor size. I have shared with others in the Probation office who you met last year, your situation and there are others here who are keeping you in their prayers as well.

Continue to be strong, rely on God, keep the positive attitude. I will continue to pray for you that you will have a full recovery and that your faith will remain strong through all of this.

God bless,
Jessica Gaiser

Nathan,
Mary and I had a great time with your Dad early this month when we connected at a workshop at AMBS. You've got a great Dad (and Mom!) that care about you more than you can know.

It was so good to hear that the tumors are shrinking. Can't you almost hear them making that "sucking up" sound within your body?!

Our prayers continue to go with you and your family. Thanks for keeping us updated so regularly. We appreciate it.

Thanks to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. -1 Corinthians 15:57-58
