Good News!

Hi! I just got back from Kansas where I visited Kendra, her family and friends and had a good time. I’m now back in Iowa sitting on a hospital bed. I was feeling great until I got another I.V. put in me. The good news I learned from Dr. Hohl today (Monday) is that the tumors are shrinking and that I’m making “outstanding” progress. In six weeks, we will do another CT SCAN and then we will have a more accurate reading as to how much the tumors are shrinking. So for now, I’m continuing the same treatment plan as before which means I’m receiving my large chemo treatment today.
Remember to keep me in your prayers as I deal with nausea, fatigue and the possibility of my white blood cell count dropping over the next week. Pray that the tumors will continue to respond to the chemo and give thanks for the progress that has been made.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and that you will experience God’s presence in a real way as we remember Jesus’ birth on Christmas Day. Thanks for your prayers!

Nathan

Nathan,
I will work out extra hard this week to help you through this round of chemo. I work out regularly, and each time I do I pray that God will give you the energy that I am blessed with each time I step foot on the pavement or treadmill. When I heard you had more energy with your last round of chemo, I knew my prayers were being answered. So tonight if you feel a surge of power around 6:30 or 7:00 it is my gift to you! I promise to go the distance for you!!!Thank you for bringing my husband and I to a renewed relationship with God. You have made this Advent season a special one with this website and the testimonies of your faith. Your friends and family comments are a blessing too. Your are a gift to many!! God bless you and your family Nathan.

Seasons Blessings,
Larry and Jolisa Weidner (ask your mom and dad!)

Nathan: So glad for your good news. You are an inspiration to all of us. In my prayer time early on Monday I found this poem in a booklet in my Bible.

"Friends, set aside a time each day to meditate and pray; rise to this vantage point with God. Above the clouds of gray, above the fog, the sky is clearer and we have a broader view. Above the fog, troubles are smaller and the day much brighter, too. --Sister Mary Gemma Brunke"

I'm so happy you had a good time with my cousin. Hang in there, many are praying for you. Have an especially good Christmas this year.

We care, Joanne

Nathan, recently we had some good words in our devotions. This is a summary of what it said. "It is difficult for us to remember that God loves us. We say it with our lips and know it in our heads, but we keep forgetting it in our heart. We work hard at being good persons, but forget that God loves us just as we are. The Holy Spirit tries to give us the massage that we are loved." You might read Zephaniah 3:17 and maybe you can picture God looking down and singing about you. God's joy comes from loving the creation -- you!. All you have to do is enjoy God's love and to remember that God takes delight in you.

We just pray that you will remember that God loves you so much that God sings about it.

Thought for the Day: God delights in me.

Nathan,
You are in my thoughts and prayers especially during this holiday season. I think about you often and your courageous updates bring joy to my heart and help me grow closer to my wonderful God. Thank you for your openness and honesty during this time of learning and growing. Nathan, may the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face shine upon you and give you His peace. And may you always love Jesus first above all else.

Merry Christmas!
Prayers

Dear Nathan,
I have had a blessed time in prayer for you on Christmas Eve and again on Christmas night. I had many candles burning here in my apartment at AMBS while I was praying. They reminded me to pray that you will experience the light and presence of Christ in your life each day.
Last evening as I was reading the Consumer Reports on Health (Nov 04) I read tht you might be able to treat nausea with a drop of spice. Studies have shown that ginger pills relieve nausea caused by motion sickness, chemotherapy as effective as over-the-counter drugs do. Hopefully you aren't having too much nausea these days. Take care.
