PET Scan
PET Scan
I spent all day yesterday in the hospital once again, but this time it was for tests before I go into the hospital for my last scheduled chemotherapy treatment. The first thing I did was to receive a pet scan of my whole body. This test was to see if there were any remaining cancer cells still growing. Fortunately they did not find any active/growing cancer cells anywhere in my body. That is a very good thing because the fewer cancer cells that I have is the best for starting the new chemo. But, the doctors did discover a fungus growing on the backside of my right lung. This is a fungus that is dangerous when someone does not have a strong immune system. That will be my case in a little over a week away as I am starting with the new chemo on Monday the 9th. They have begun by fighting the fungus with antifungal medication and everything should work out well, but this does increase the risks for problems during the treatment. I also received an EKG.
As I think about my month long stay in the hospital starting just next week, there are a lot of prayers that enter my mind. I am hoping that staying in the hospital for a long time won’t be too bad, and I hope I can remain as healthy as possible the whole time through. I also am praying for protection for my body organs against the strong chemotherapies, from life threatening illness, and low blood counts. And ultimately, I am praying for complete healing from rhabdomyosarcoma.
With love,
Nathan

Dear Nathan, As you prepare to begin another round of treatment on Monday you are in our prayers and thoughts! I saw this today in a devotional book called "Streams In The Desert". "When thou passest through the waters, deep the waves may be and cold. But Jesus is our refuge, and his promise is our hold; For the Lord himself has said it, He the faithful God and true:When thou comest to the waters, Thou shalt not go down, BUT THROUGH! May the peace of our Lord God be with you Nathan! Love, Mike, Shannon, Kayla, and Austin.
Nathan, As I read your blog this morning, I offered up prayers of thanksgiving and praise, and prayed for our loving God to BLESS YOU, Nathan! We wish we could go through this for you. Since we cannot do that, we will do what we can do, and that is to lift you up to the arms of Almighty God "without ceasing". Especially praying now, that the fungus will be cleared up and that the coming month will pass quickly and with as little discomfort for you as possible. May you and your family experience God's love and peace, Barb R.
Nathan,
Good luck next week and throughout your month stay, and know that we will all be praying for your quick recovery! As your process begins just remember how much God loves you and that his arms are around you always. Keep your faith in God strong and give your troubles up to him. He carries our burdens for us when we seem unable to carry them on our own. Psalm 68:19 "Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens." 1 Peter 5:7 " Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
What a wonderful promise he has given to us. Remember this and be strong in Christ's love.
We love you.

Nathan,
Although I hardly ever post, please know that I check this site frequently and pray for you daily. My prayers join yours that the fungus will go away, that the month long treatment will go well, and for your complete healing. You've been through so much in the last 15 months and through it all you've kept your faith and have been an inspiration to so many of us. God is faithful and I know he will be with you during your month of hospitalization.

Nathan,
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord lift his countenance upon you,
and give you peace.
The Lord be gracious unto you. Amen
This is a blessing we often sing in our church, and we're asking God to bless you with this request in your life as you face another round of chemo. Our love and prayers are with you and your family constantly.

I think 2006 is going to be a year of miracles for you! Our prayers our with you and your family. Thank you Lord for blessings received!
Nathan: Praise the Lord on your stem cell growth. Roger and I were reading in devotions the other morning from Rejoice devotional and scripture was from Isaiah 41:27-31 "How can you say the Lord does not see your troubles? How can you say God refuses to hear your case? Have you never heard or understood? Don't you know that the Lord is the everlasting God, Creator of all the earth? He never grows faint or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak. Even youth will become exhausted and young men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (Living Translation) Appreciate the updates. You continue in our prayers. We care. Roger and Joanne
